Ladies & Gentlemen,
On behalf of Antietam National Battlefield and the National Park Service, welcome to the 34th annual Maryland Symphony Orchestra Salute to Independence. Tonight marks the opening of the 38th season of the Maryland Symphony Orchestra and we are pleased to welcome these wonderful musicians back to the national battlefield. We also are honored that you joined us to celebrate the anniversary of our independence as a nation. As you enjoy the music, fireworks, and fellowship with friends and family, remember all of those patriots who have served or are currently serving the United States of America in all branches of our Armed Forces. Honor their service and sacrifice and take the time to thank them and their families.
Tonight, as we celebrate our freedom, please stand for our National Anthem and enjoy all of
the great music of the Maryland Symphony Orchestra under the direction of Elizabeth Schulze.
To the MSO Board and Staff and to every donor, sponsor and partner – thank you for your
generous financial and in-kind support for this wonderful event.
Enjoy the evening, please be patient on your departure and ask a ranger or volunteer for any assistance you may need throughout the evening.
Welcome again to Antietam National Battlefield – your local national park!
